The corporate web is a cage. The algorithm decides what you see, what you want, what you are. You are not the audience. You are the product.
But the real web didn't die. People just left it. Below we explain what is going on, and why we're joining the movement.
// YOUR CAGE (THE BUBBLE)
Open the app. Scroll. The feed loads. You did not pick it. Something else did, optimized for your longest possible attention. The feed feeds you. It might be what you want, but not always what's best for you.
You stop enjoying it after five minutes. You keep going. And you're stuck in the loop.
This is how the 'internet' works in 2026. A handful of platforms, each one a sealed room with rented walls. No freedom. No place for your own creativity. You don't get a personal world. You get a profile. A holding cell with a corporate header bar. While it might be good for being seen, we pay quite a big price for that.
// ADVENTURE INSTEAD OF SURVIVAL
The corporate web is an infinite noisy crowded city. Constant noise, constant motion, constant marketing. Every street is filled with billboards and people fighting for the tiniest glimpses of attention. Either by trolling, shitposting, or spreading misinformation.
The Indie-web is a countryside. Small towns. Strange roads. Traffic brings interest, not annoyance. Every interaction is deliberate. Discovery happens by accident, one person links to a friend, you click, you keep going. Webrings. Neighbour lists. No algorithm. No tracking.
// HOW TO ENTER
It is cheap. It is easy.
You don't need an engineering degree. You need a cheap old computer or server and an email address. Neocities is free. Nico Web is free. The 32bit.cafe community keeps a directory of every resource you'd need to ever learn this.
You don't even need to write code. Open a browser, visit an indie site, leave your message. That's already participation.
// SERPENION JOINS
This site is now a node.
We have a links page /worlds/links/ pointing outward at neighbours and gateways. We have site cards you can download and put on yours. If you link to us, message us in Discord (the server is in info) and we'll link back.
The signal carries on hyperlinks. Along with us.
